Comments

When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the data displayed in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to assist with spam detection.

An anonymized version of your email address (also known as a hash) may be shared with the Gravatar service to check if you use it. The Gravatar service's privacy policy is available here. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible alongside your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the site, please avoid uploading those that include location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract location data from images on the website.

Cookies

When you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies for convenience, so you don’t have to fill them in again on future comments. These cookies last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal information and is discarded when you close your browser.

Upon logging in, several cookies are set to save your login information and display preferences. These cookies last for two days (login) or one year (screen display options). If you select "Remember Me," your login will persist for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved, which contains no personal data, only the post ID of the article you just edited. This cookie expires after one day.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, and articles. Embedded content behaves as if you’ve visited the other website. These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, track your interactions with embedded content, and monitor activity if you're logged in to those sites.

Who We Share Your Data With

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Data Retention

If you leave a comment, both the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely to allow us to automatically approve follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our site, we store the personal information provided in their profile. Users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except for their username). Website administrators can also view and edit this information.

Your Data Rights

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you’ve provided. You may also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you, though this does not include data we need to keep for administrative, legal, or security reasons.

Where Your Data Is Sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
